Thanks to our New Zealand Romneys and our unique, NZ inspired system, we feel we have managed to achieve this goal here at Viewfield.

The Viewfield Romney
Our overriding aim is to farm profitably without any subsidy while making things as simple as possible. We aim to strike a sustainable work-life balance while constantly learning and introducing more interesting attributes to our farming practises.
The Farm
We run 2,800 Romney ewes, 1,000 hoggets,
100 Luing cows on our 2,500 acre grass/hill farm.
About Viewfield Romneys
Over the last 30 years we have drawn on our experience of living in New Zealand and on our family ties to that country. With the help, knowledge and expertise of top New Zealand breeders, we have designed our own system. This along with the availability of semen has put us at the top of a very successful genetic breeding system.

"Generally the Romneys have been great. They've allowed us to move from indoor to outdoor lambing without losing either lamb numbers or growth rate. I leave the lambing fields by 7pm every evening. That's made a huge improvement to family life. Docility and mastitis are improved. Feet are also vastly improved. Lambing ease has been excellent. We now have 1000 Romney ewes and sell approx 45 rams each year with a high rate of repeat customers so most users seem as satisfied as we are."
