About Viewfield Romneys
Over the last 30 years we have drawn on our experience of living in Scotland and our family ties to New Zealand.
The overriding aim of our family business is to run profitably and with this in mind, we have developed our New Zealand inspired management system that ensures maximum output from low input, while maintaining high standards across the business.
‘Lambing nature’s way’ is the Viewfield Romneys motto and over the years this has enabled us to build a thriving, innovative and successful farm business.

Where we are
Viewfield Romneys is based just outside New Galloway, a picturesque town nestled on the edge of Galloway Forest Park. Just 14 miles from the market town of Castle Douglas, 36 miles from Ayr and 46 miles from the ferry terminal in Cairnryan with links to Northern Ireland, we are easily accessible for visitors.
Meet the team

Marcus Maxwell
Marcus has spent a lifetime farming, which has been a pleasure and not a chore. As the years are ticking by and the next generation comes along, he’s scared of being put out to pasture to grow vegetables!

Kate Maxwell
Kate was brought up on a hill farm in the Waitotara Valley in New Zealand where her father was a Marshall Romney stud breeder and they ran 4,000 ewes. She came to Viewfield in the mid 1990s and has been chatting about sheep around Scotland ever since!

Murphy Maxwell
The youngest of their three children, Murphy is the third generation of Maxwells to farm at Viewfield. Usually found on the quad bike moving sheep with his four collie dogs, he returned to farm at Viewfield after spending time contracting across Scotland and in New Zealand.
